How to FIX iOS 11 Battery Problems on iPhone AND iPAD

11 tips to make your iOS 11 battery less drain problem on your iPhone

What is the most important technology for mobile devices? This is not a quality or screen size. This is not storage space or cloud services. It is a battery. Because without battery no matter how sophisticated your phone. If you can not turn it on, it's more useful than pen and paper. That's why my iPhone is the most brilliant device in the world for the first half of today and the most worrying for the last half of today.

And installing iOS 11 does not make my worries much better. Like all X.0 releases, there are some battery drain problems on certain devices, but it certainly will undoubtedly be solved in future updates. Until then, I have re-used some true and correct tricks to make my life last longer. Here are 11 of my favorites.

How to FIX iOS 11 Battery Problems on iPhone AND iPAD

Enable Low Power Mode

This may be the # 1 way you can help to save your iPhone battery. The settings have been around for several generations of iOS, but that does not make it any less helpful. Low Power Mode delayed some things like background app refresh, auto download, email retrieval, and more auto when your iPhone battery reaches 20%. To enable it, choose Settings> Battery.

Turn on Automatic Brightness

The increase in screen brightness requires TON battery power. This is because the extra light required to illuminate your screen requires a lot of energy, draining the battery faster. The screen generally requires less light in the dark and more light when outside. In order for iPhone to adjust to external brightness level automatically go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Display Accommodations and turn off Auto-Brightness button to ON (green).

Reduce Screen Brightness Manually

If Auto Brightness does not do it for you, you can also adjust the brightness level automatically. Go to Settings> Display & Brightness> and decrease the brightness level by adjusting the slider. This will set the maximum screen brightness value and can do a lot to save extra battery costs.

Stop the Motion Effect

Parallax effects are names given on icons and notifications that move slightly on iOS when you move your iPhone. Apple created a parallax effect to give flat icons of some depth. However, as with any process that requires movement, the graphics capability required to do this takes up battery life. To disable this effect, go to Settings> General> Accessibility> Reduce Motion> and turn the switch ON (green).

Disable Dynamic Background

Other motion features in iOS are dynamic backgrounds. This is a wallpaper that has a smooth movement in it. They look cool, but the movement takes your precious energy. We recommend using still images for your wallpaper. To remove a dynamic image, go to Settings> Wallpaper> Select New Wallpaper and choose wallpaper from the "Stills" option.

Prevent Submission of Background Apps

Background App Refresh is a feature on iOS that lets apps learn when you check frequently. This allows the app to predict when you will next examine them and see them belittle their servers right before doing so so they can pull up the latest data and set it up and wait for you when you open the app. This is a very useful feature except for draining the battery since this app runs in the background. To disable Background App Refresh, go to Settings> General> Background App Attributes> Background App Attributes and choose "Off" or just enable individual ON or OFF apps on the previous screen.

Turn off 4G

4G is one thanks to the modern mobile network, but uses more power than traditional 3G networks. Fortunately an iPhone that can connect to a 4G network can still connect to 3G networks - and wherever you can get 4G signals, you almost certainly can get 3G signals. So if you run out of power and fastest Internet speed is not a priority right now, disable 4G on your iPhone. To do this go to Settings> Cellular> Cellular Data Options> Enable 4G and select "Off". Again, with this shut down you can still access mobile data and make and receive calls via 3G.

Turn off Bluetooth

The latest iPhone has Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. And while Bluetooth 4.0 and later use much less power than previous Bluetooth versions, it still requires power when you let it burn and does not intend to connect to any Bluetooth device. To quickly turn off Bluetooth just swipe up from the bottom of any screen in iOS 11. This will bring up the Control Center. Tap the Bluetooth button so it turns to gray. This disables Bluetooth.

Disable Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is another connection technology that we generally do not need when traveling. This is more important when we are at home or our office because using Wi-Fi does not feed into our data plan. But having it allow all the time means our phones are constantly looking to join the Wi-Fi network as we squat across the city or take the train. The result is battery drain. To quickly switch from Wi-Fi just swipe up from the bottom of any screen on iOS 11. This will bring up the Control Center. Tap the Wi-Fi button so it turns gray. This disables Wi-Fi.

Turn off Location App Services

Location Services allows apps to know your location by GPS or Wi-Fi triangulation. This is useful for some applications, but it saves battery power. In addition, some apps requested your Location Information but not very good (this app uses it for targeted ads, for example). To save battery, go to Settings> Privacy> Location Services> and turn off switching to OFF (white) to disable all Location Services (not recommended) or assign individual apps to "While Using" or "Never".

Turn off Location Services System

Just because you have changed the access of individual apps to Location Services does not mean you can not obtain further battery savings to disable the feature elsewhere. IOS Core uses Location Services for many other functions - some of which are of no use to you. go to Settings> Privacy> Location Services> and scroll down until you see System Services. Tap and turn the switch to OFF (white) to disable the Individual System Location Services.
