How T0 ChANGE SCrEEN Key Text On iPhone Running on iOS 11 Without J4ILBREAK

Thanks to the release of what Ian Beer calls async_exploit, it is increasingly possible to do things on Apple devices that were previously impossible without a full jailbreak. One last process involves the ability to change the text that appears on different parts of the lock screen.

The availability of exploits released means that developers can create new apps and experiences that allow functionality to be called previously only available to jailbroken device owners.

In this example, the focus is to be able to convert various strings on hard-coded devices into platforms, such as those found on the Lock screen when the device is locked. All you need to do that is a file explorer application created by using injected injections, like FilzaJailed we just told you. After you install FilzaJailed, you can follow the instructions below. Remember, this will only work on iOS 11.0-11.1.2 devices.

The process is relatively simple.

  1. Use the file explorer app of choice to navigate to the following directory: /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/
  2. Locate the right directory for your location. As an example, if you are the United Kingdom, then the en_GB.lproj is what you’re interested in. Depending on your country, you may have to Google the proper code for this.
  3. Open up the Late_Fall_2017_iOS_Strings.strings file if you are an iPhone X user, or the SpringBoard.strings file if you are using iPhone 8 or 8 Plus.
  4. It’s then a case of finding the key that is assigned to what you want to change and changing its underlying string file. As an example on the iPhone X, you will see a line similar to the following: SWIPE_UP_TO_UNLOCK. On the iPhone 8 /8 Plus or below with Touch to unlock function, you will see the following string: PRESS_HOME_TO_OPEN .
  5. You can then change the text inside of the brackets to change what is displayed on your device.
  6. Save the changes, reboot the device, and you’re good to go.

Of course, in a situation like this, his advice is always the same. If you do not know what you do or do not feel comfortable modifying these files and be wary of the results, then do not do that. It is not possible to change some string files to cause catastrophic effects but keep in mind that this is not a jailbreak luxury, and therefore, it does not have a Safe Mode Cydia Substrate safety net.
