Abraham Masri, the developer in charge of Houdini's semi-jailbreak solution, has announced that a new version is available for immediate download. Dubbed "beta 2r1" or "b2r1", the updated tool is a direct continuation of the second beta version of Houdini just launched yesterday.

Houdini is one tool that really feels like it has been around for a while because developers in the community have been dishing out and announcing upcoming jailbreaks as if just out of fashion.

Houdini precedes all announcements with a release in early December for iOS 10.3.x devices and recently - just yesterday - has been updated and pushed to beta 2 with the support of 64-bit devices running into iOS 11.1.2. A problem is clearly found with a release that has pushed the move to Houdini beta 2r1. This latest Houdini release immediately fixes the problems experienced in the initial 2 beta release where the boot logo is noticed. Masri has acted promptly based on user feedback to resolve this issue, which of course corresponds to the release of beta 2 release 1. This is not a major change or series of improvements but it is great to see that the developer has acted almost immediately to resolve the issue. Especially considering the tool has now been opened for enhancements that run iOS 11 to iOS 11.1.2 thanks to the inclusion of Ian Beer async_wake exploit.

The announcement from Masri also claims that the beta 2 release 1 "adds more," which at this stage is not clear whether it means adding more options to the boot logo or adding more functionality. The official Changelog on the Houdini site refers only to the fact that it released 1 boot repair logo for iOS 11 device owners and did not explicitly make reference to additional functions or features. It's one of those people where you just dive and see if you can find something new.

Unfortunately, Masri has made an additional announcement in which he says that, "All my jailbreak related projects are now open, I will not work on this project (or any public) anymore, but if you are interested in making improvements, do so.
