FreE DownloAd Workouts ++ Adds Support for Podcasts, LOCATION TRaCKIng & Swimming Workouts

David Smith has just announced that its workout app, Workout ++, has been updated to bring up frequently requested new features.

Smith announced changes to Workout ++ 2.0 yesterday in a blog post. According to the developers, the new version of the app is "full realization" of the original idea, and finally can see the brightness of the day thanks to the launch of watchOS 4.0 earlier this year. And, if the new feature is not enough, Smith also announces that Workout ++ is now completely free, which should be good news for anyone who does not want to buy an exercise app.

So here's a new addition. First, support for listening to podcasts directly from Apple Watch. You can transfer it first with the iPhone app, or you can download it directly to Apple Watch. In addition, the new Workout ++ also supports location tracking, which means you can get information about the route you're running, and can even track your elevation.

Finally, Smith adds support to keep track of your swimming sessions:

"So far the most requested feature with version 1.0 of Workouts ++ is the support of swimming exercises. This is now possible in watchOS 4. I am not a big swimmer myself (just one step from a light sink), but I can work with some good beta testers which, and I think the result is very good .. During your workout, you can show things like your lap count 2, and also use the High / Low Heart Rate graph to display your scratch history right on your wrist. "

And if that's not enough, here's a quick bullet list of what else has joined the new Workout ++ app:
  • Display of V02 Max values
  • Siri integration (e.g. “Start Outdoor Walking workout in Workouts”)
  • Redesigned custom workout configuration system
  • Redesigned workout detail display
  • Dark mode
  • Added Stopwatch, Round counter, Average pace/speed and Activity ring metrics for display during workout
  • Added Distance and Duration Alerts

Workout++ 2.0 is now available to download. A link to do just that is available below if you want to give it a go.
