Here's how to downgrade iOS 11 / 11.2.1 to iOS 11.1.2 / 11.0.3 / 10.3.3 (only for 6s) on compatible iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch devices.
If you have taken the opportunity to get up and running with iOS 11.2.x, but it turns out not to be as expected or expected, then you really want to take the opportunity to return to the faithful. iOS 11.0.x or 11.1.x while Apple still signed the firmware version. Here's how to do it.
A few days ago, we showed you how to downgrade your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch from iOS 11.2 to iOS 11.1.2 to get ready for the seemingly imminent iOS 11 jailbreak.
Unfortunately, some readers face problems when iTunes backups are not compatible with iOS 11.1.2, and users using the iCloud option are forced to upgrade to iOS 11.2 during the setup process. The only option in the case is to install it as a new device, which is not ideal because you end up losing all the data.
If you still want to downgrade to iOS 11.1.2, then you can try the following methods so you do not lose data:
Check Real-time Signing Status
You can downgrade to iOS 11.1.2 only if Apple still signs iOS 11.1.2 files. To find out if Apple is still signing firmware files, check this website. The green line with a check mark means that Apple still signs the firmware files, and you can downgrade from iOS 11.2 to iOS 11.1.2. It is widely speculated that Apple may stop signing iOS 11.1.1 and iOS 11.1.2 firmware files today.
Downgrade iOS 11.2 to iOS 11.1.2
- Turn off Find my iPhone via the Settings app (Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone).
- Download the iOS 11.1.2 firmware file for your device from our iOS firmware file download page for your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Note: If you download a firmware file using Safari, make sure the auto unzip feature is disabled or use Chrome or Firefox. Alternatively, renaming .zip files as .ipsw files should also work.
- Connect the iOS device running iOS 11.2 to your computer.
- Launch iTunes and select the iOS device from the top left corner.
- Then click on Summary in the left-hand sidebar.
- Hold the Alt/Option key on the Mac or Shift Key in Windows on your keyboard and click on the Check for Update option, instead of restoring.
- Select the iOS 11.1.2 ipsw firmware file you had downloaded earlier.
- iTunes will inform that it will update your iOS device to iOS 11.1.2 and will verify the update with Apple.
- Click Update.
- iTunes should now downgrade your iOS device to iOS 11.1.2.
This is a more risk method especially if it is not a small update like iOS 11.2, but some readers and reddit users have reported that the above method works.
Interestingly, some users also report that Apple Pay Cash works even after downgrading iPhone version from iOS 11.2 to iOS 11.2. Probably because the property file is not returned during the downgrade process.
If you have problems with the DFU method, you can upload back to iOS 11.2, restore backup from iCloud and then follow the instructions above to downgrade from iOS 11.2 to iOS 11.1.2 without data loss.
