Over the last few days, we've learned a lot about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9 + smartphones. In addition to the full list of hardware specifications, we have a complete list of the famous leaker Evan Blass. Of course, Samsung has always had some surprises in their sleeves, and today, we have some new information about the face-lift method that arrived at the S8.
Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are both equipped with iris scanners along with face recognition capabilities. There are some disadvantages in both of these implementations. Iris opens occasionally suffering in extreme lighting situations, especially for those who use prescription glasses. Facial recognition, on the other hand, is stronger in different lighting situations, but lack of security is diminished. It appears that Samsung has set up a solution to this problem in the Galaxy S9 software.
All signs point to a new feature called 'IntelligentScan' that debuted on Galaxy S9 next month. This feature will likely incorporate iris scanning resources and facial recognition algorithms to make a more secure and convenient unlocking method.
Leuser firmware Samsung Prolific Max Weinbach finds this exciting new feature buried in the Setup APK for Galaxy Note 8 Oreo Beta. In addition to the name and details for the feature itself, she also finds a short video clip showing how it works. While the clip is very short, it seems to be the kind of thing Samsung will post on their website documentation for Galaxy S9.\
Overall, this seems to be a great step to unlock the face of the Samsung flag. The ability to open in various lighting conditions will give users another excellent alternative safe for fingerprint scanners. Will this new method allow Samsung to compete with Apple's Face ID on the iPhone X which is still to be seen, but we do not have to wait long to find out. Samsung will take a wrapper from Galaxy S9 and S9 + on February 25th at Mobile World Congress. Who is eager for his flagship season?
